Some years ago, for our vacation, my father, his girlfriend and I drove about 1000 km to visit my sister, who lives in a very remote area.
Both my sister and my father's girlfriend smoke like chimneys.
I cannot stand cigarette smoke, I go up the wall.
So, both my sister and my father's girlfriend would smoke up all the time, and I had to stay in a separate room all the time in order not to be asphixiated.
After about a week, I come out of the room, and I say very gently, "I really love you both, and enjoy very much being with you, but could you please go easy on the smoke?".
Well, the girlfriend went full retard, muttered angrily something about "respect", packed up and left.
What we assumed was a walk down the road to cool down turned to be a 10 km hike to the bus station to ride the bus back (and the bus fare there is quite expensive - I paid about the same price to fly to Europe two years ago!!!)!!!
Everybody pulled their hair about her reaction, given how nicely I asked about not smoking...
So, redditors, what little thing you said/have done metered-out a totally disproportionate response???
