Reddit, what are some misconceptions you wish society would get over? (self.AskReddit)
submitted 11 months ago by [deleted]
[–]joeromag 290 points291 points292 points 11 months ago
Maybe not a misconception, but the thought that everybody is out to hurt your child. I shouldn't get cops called on me for waving to a child to make him/her smile.
[–]BloodFalcon 139 points140 points141 points 11 months ago*
"HELLO? YES, 911? A MAN. WAVED. AT MY CHILD! YOU NEED TO GET OUT THE ENTIRE POLICE FORCE AND ARREST THIS MAN!"
[–]Sproutykins 31 points32 points33 points 11 months ago
...tonight, on FOX News. Waving, a basic form of communication? Or the new paedophile mating call? Find out more, at eleven.
[–][deleted] 71 points72 points73 points 11 months ago
THAT SON OF A *****! WE'LL BE RIGHT THERE!"
[–]Mr_NeCr0 55 points56 points57 points 11 months ago
"THERE'S THAT GODDAMN BABY WAVER. LOOK HE'S WALKING AWAY FROM US. WE'VE GOT A RUNNER! GIT EM LUCKY!" dog mauls man
[–]everything_is_free 8 points9 points10 points 11 months ago
Exactly. Around 115 U.S. children are abducted every year. That is about one in a million. A one in a million occurrence is not worth harassing strangers over or preventing your kids from playing outside over either.
[–]NUMBERS2357 181 points182 points183 points 11 months ago
Just because some phenomenon is being reported in the media a lot recently, doesn't mean that it's a trend, that it's suddenly happening more than it used to, or that it's more important than previously.
Best example == Summer of the Shark
[–]rlaw68 28 points29 points30 points 11 months ago
More people are killed every year by deer than by sharks.
[–]Mit3210 29 points30 points31 points 11 months ago
In the UK, you're more likely to be killed by your trousers than in a train crash.
[–]lackofbrain 17 points18 points19 points 11 months ago
That's it, I'm never wearing clothes on a train again!

That being bipolar automatically means you're absolutely crazy, "just" moody, or that it is something easily suppressed. Earlier in a thread today someone posted about a terrible family member and casually attributed their behavior to being bipolar "or something." I just wish people would stop blaming shitty behavior on our already shitty disorder, we don't need the extra societal judgment. :\ edit: damn parallel sentence structure...
[–]-JS- 590 points591 points592 points 11 months ago
Some quiet people don't want to be "socialized". Some of us like to be alone and peaceful sometimes. Partying isn't for everybody, and you shouldn't force everybody to be "normal".
[–]Wbran 248 points249 points250 points 11 months ago
I feel this image from /r/introvert sums this up perfectly: Link
[–]satopunch89 59 points60 points61 points 11 months ago
Jeez, I wish my parents would get this. They seem to think I need to socialise every hour of every day. If I'm not, I usually get called a loner (by my MOTHER).

[–]CalcFool 44 points45 points46 points 11 months ago
I find people think it is just weird to want to be alone. Even if it's for 10mins, this is even more the case with my flat mates girlfriends, they just don't understand the concept that you don't always have to be entertaining someone else. If there is going to be silence, I'd rathe be silent alone.
Maybe they are just too clingy.
[–]Wbran 35 points36 points37 points 11 months ago
I know that feel. I share a dorm with 3 other guys at my college. Sometimes, I just want to go into my room and be alone. I love my roommates and love hanging out with people. I just need to be with my thoughts, aimlessly browse the internet, and not be judged when I scratch myself. Nothing against anyone.
[–]glisp42 16 points17 points18 points 11 months ago
Showing up to your house in the middle of the night after you've politely refused is just disrespectful. And I totally get where you're coming from with having a friend who's extremely social, I had one until I just stopped answering his calls. The bottom line is, if you don't enjoy their company (and honestly the D&D game sounds like the worst kind of game) and they won't respect your occasional need for solitude then you need to drop them. The fact that they aren't respecting your boundaries makes me suspect that they aren't truly your friends but they get something out of having you along. Maybe they're the kind of people who feel they get an enhanced image by having so many people around them. Maybe they perceive your unwillingness to hang out constantly as an attack on them or they wonder what they did to piss you off. Maybe they can't understand your situation or are concerned. And because you've always gone along with their plans and have only started to stick up for yourself, they may see it as a sign that something is wrong which is a good thing. It means they care about you. They may not express it in the best way (like showing up to your house) but if they care about you then they should listen to you. If you've explained how you feel and they still won't listen, I would stop hanging out with them all together. My current best friend understands that sometimes I go into hermit mode, set my phone on silent and do my own thing for a while. He knows it has nothing to do with him and if there is an emergency he really needs to talk to someone about, he just has to text me or message me through facebook and I'll call him but the bottom line is he never does this unless it really is an emergency. He respects my boundaries and that's friendship is. Respect, a quality I don't see much of your friends having for you based on your post.
[–]greymatters_flipside 22 points23 points24 points 11 months ago
Yes. Introverts are normal, a bit misunderstood i guess, but everyone should just accept the fact that not all people have the constant urge to tell everybody else what's on our mind.
[–]wtfapkin 25 points26 points27 points 11 months ago
I hate it when people force me to socialize. When I give it, they're always putting attention towards me because I'm quiet. I'm more of a listener than a talker.
[–]Fanzellino 305 points306 points307 points 11 months ago
I'm only 17 so I have all the time in the world to change my mind about this, but I do not want kids. I'm way too selfish to take care of another human life.
[–]TheHaug 86 points87 points88 points 11 months ago
Upvote for honesty
[–]Fanzellino 51 points52 points53 points 11 months ago
Really that's it. I'm also an introvert, so I spend tons of time alone in my room and that makes me happy. Maintaining a healthy romantic relationship and making a human child not die and not have ridiculous neglect issues (which I am also completely inequipped to handle) would just be too much. Now, if I could find someone who just is head over heels for kids, and he could be the main parent, and spend all his time with the kids while I hung out alone and we got down to it every once in a while, I could do that. I'd be an awesome backup parent, and if there was a kid to distract my husband from me, things would all be peachy keen.
[–]wtfapkin 105 points106 points107 points 11 months ago
Or when you're engaged and the families are asking WHEN ARE YOU HAVING KIDS?! I don't want kids. My fiancé doesn't want kids. The family makes me feel like shit because I won't give my parents grandchildren.
[–]LoyalCassius 66 points67 points68 points 11 months ago
I think it comes from the idea/fact that every ancestor you have has passed on their genetic information, continued the line, for millions/billions of years, and suddenly you are the one that chooses to stop.
[–]wtfapkin 45 points46 points47 points 11 months ago
Well, it has nothing to do with genetics. I'm adopted. And I'm not the only child. I have a brother that can procreate! Why they chose me to heckle, I don't know.
[–]inflexiblemadness 11 points12 points13 points 11 months ago
I've been married almost 3 years now (we're only 26) and we're waiting until we get a bit more financially stable before having kids.
If one more person asks me when I'm going to have kids, I swear to God....

YOU WILL SUFFER THE WAY WE SUFFERED RAISING YOU!!
[–]despaxes 38 points39 points40 points 11 months ago
Nothing is wrong with just wanting to be a stay at home parent...
It should be an individual choice, and not purported as the only avenue someone should follow, but there is no reason to denigrate those that want to raise a family as a lifestyle.
[–]sendenten 13 points14 points15 points 11 months ago
Also, if you're a stay-at-home mom, you're a weak little girl who needs a man with a REAL job to support her while she only knows how to do woman things. If you're a stay-at-home dad, you're a whipped little bitch who let's your wife walk all over you, ya big fuckin' pussy.
You just can't win :(
[–]Bladelink 33 points34 points35 points 11 months ago
I feel you dude. Add to this the pile of assholes who always say "Oh, you'll definitely want to have kids", or "oh, you wouldn't understand unless you were a parent."
Bitch, I'm 25 years old, and act like I'm 55. Neither my wife or I want kids, and not a single person seems to find that acceptable.
[–]poorsoi 39 points40 points41 points 11 months ago
I'm 24 with a toddler. I love him more than anything and would never trade life as a parent for my prior one---but that doesn't mean this is for everyone.
Not sure why people catch so much criticism for not breeding. It's not as though we're having a problem with low population density here.
[–]meinherzbrennt42 14 points15 points16 points 11 months ago
I'm one person that finds that acceptable, if it's any consolation.
[–]Dr_fish 146 points147 points148 points 11 months ago

[–]whitesock 34 points35 points36 points 11 months ago
The acquisition of Schleswig-Holstein? I'm with you on that one. Those Danes had it coming.

I actually got into an argument with someone on Reddit a couple weeks ago over this. It made me angry when he said it, and all I did was post 3 sources from 3 different reputable newspapers showing him how WE have it harder than he ever did. He was like "oh I don't care about that you're just lazy". The. Fuck

(Scientific)Theory != guess
(Ninja edit)
(ETA) Also, that theories have, by definition, a shit ton of supporting evidence.
[–]VelTor 102 points103 points104 points 11 months ago
The big bang theory. Most people do not even have a basic understanding of it and talk about it as if they have a masters degree in astronomy.
[–]pillo25 48 points49 points50 points 11 months ago
Or when people say that something is "only a theory" and only has any solid backing when it becomes a "fact." There's a huge difference between a scientific theory and an everyday theory.
[–]WilhelmEngel 48 points49 points50 points 11 months ago
You should say to them "Atomic theory is only a theory, and hydrogen bombs still explode."
[–]Ninway 11 points12 points13 points 11 months ago
actually, you should say that fact that the sun is the center of the solar system is just a theory. And that in fact, we live on a flat earth that is the center of the universe.
[–]kingofallryans34 20 points21 points22 points 11 months ago
Gravity is just a theory too. Nobody actually knows how massive objects pull others to them. It's a theory that hasn't been proven wrong and probably won't, but if there is any chance that in some dimension it worked differently, it stays considered a theory.
[–]Lt_Shniz 66 points67 points68 points 11 months ago*
I thought you were talking abut the show at first. I'm absolutely disappointed with myself.
*Also, you could say the same thing abut black holes

EDIT: I accidentally a word.
[–][deleted] 29 points30 points31 points 11 months ago
I'm going to sit at home, watch porn and Top Gear, and not give two cares about going out. Why don't more people understand alone time is healthy?
[–]greygore 10 points11 points12 points 11 months ago
I can identify with that. I always felt broken because I didn't want to be super social and go out and attend parties, etc, or that when I did I quickly got my fill. Best description of extrovert vs introvert that I've heard is that extroverts feed energy from social situations while introverts have that energy drained by the same. I can enjoy some event or function just as much as an extrovert and be ready to go home and be alone afterwards instead of wanting the party to go on forever.
[–]papataros 104 points105 points106 points 11 months ago
People from the Southern States are all idiots based on their accent. I'm from PA and have been stationed all around the world. Know what? There are just as many dumb people with Georgia drawls as there are idiots with Boston accents, and the same number of rocket scientists.

Yah, you make out with your sister, barefoot, in a barn, with your best piggy Bubba in your arms.

As a gay guy, I see misconceptions from both men and women.
Men: I do not want to fuck every man that I see. Do you want to fuck every girl that you see? Some of you are just plain ugly, and anyone who thinks I want to do them just because I'm gay is immediately ugly in my eyes.
Women: I am not an accessory. I'm not something that every teenage girl simply must have. I am more than just a gay guy, dammit! Tell me, would you tell a new friend of yours "Yay! Now I have a black friend!" NO!

My god that drives me nuts. Someone said something about a black stereotype and I laughed my ass off, and some self-righteous asshole came up to lecture me.
[–]Khiva 141 points142 points143 points 11 months ago
Without knowing what was said, it's really hard to judge who was being the asshole in this circumstance.
[–]Lots42 55 points56 points57 points 11 months ago
That not wanting kids is somehow bad.
[–]holy_sheet 17 points18 points19 points 11 months ago
That gay partners can't raise a child morally.
[–]Esqulax 78 points79 points80 points 11 months ago
Interesting question. My big one currently, is that I wish the general public in the UK would think twice about being condescending to Fast Food workers, such as Pizza delivery guys (Yeah I'm biased). Personally, I have a good degree, and am fully qualified in digital forensics, but my area is so niche, there is no jobs. I'm working alongside a chartered accountant, 2 nurses, a Lawyer, a high court lawyer, an architect and many more.. Everyone has their own story like filling time between emigrating to another country, saving for a while to go travelling, hard times, whatever.
Show the pizza boys some love.
[–]Blarggotron 54 points55 points56 points 11 months ago
That scenario kind of fell out of popularity in the 80's, I bet you could find a studio that specializes in a few of the older fetishes though.
[–]Esqulax 21 points22 points23 points 11 months ago
I'll have to grow a moustache.
[–]johnnytightlips2 27 points28 points29 points 11 months ago
Not just fast food workers, but anyone serving you. It might be their job and they might be getting paid for it, but they're still a human being and they still deserve your respect. And chances are they're being shafted out of a decent wage anyway.
[–]Lt_Shniz 124 points125 points126 points 11 months ago
There are so many misconceptions regarding evolution, where do I start?
[–]Phandango92 118 points119 points120 points 11 months ago
That bisexuality doesn't exist, especially for men.
[–]benjirino 58 points59 points60 points 11 months ago
That society seems to think that being bisexual means that you like men and women in a 50/50 ratio. I like the PERSON, just like anyone else.
[–]themightyyool[] 37 points38 points39 points 11 months ago
THIS. Bisexual means that yeah, you like this gender, you may like it more! BUT YOU LIKE THIS ONE TOO. Hell, everybody if you really think about it is, at least to some tiny degree, bisexual. Or has been, once.
Men, there'll always be that one guy you look at, and go "... if I was a woman." and ladies, there'll always be that woman that you go "YES. I would be all over that!" Bisexuality exists, and claiming it doesn't is just denial.
[–]GrandTyromancer 20 points21 points22 points 11 months ago
Nothing has baffled me more than people asserting the non-existence of other people's feelings.
Am I not the expert here on whether or not I happen to be attracted to men and women?
I don't feel this way, ergo nobody feels this way.
[–]morganrl 7 points8 points9 points 11 months ago
On a side note to this, asexuality is a sickness.
[–][deleted] 38 points39 points40 points 11 months ago
That my gender determines whether or not I'll be good in combat. I've seen great soldiers that were male and others that were female, and there are plenty people of both gender who shouldn't even be in uniform.
I get that there are physical differences; I don't think we should pretend otherwise. I'm scrawny, but I'm perfectly capable of doing my job. Yes, I can fireman carry your 220lb+ ass when we're both in full gear. (Sucks ball, but I've done it.) I'm proficient in multiple weapon systems and have excelled in all of my training. I remain calm under pressure and am a good team member.
I'm also not sure I buy into the whole "but a guy would save a girl first" argument. I've been in situations where our convoy was attacked and everyone acted as a soldier. We all made sure everyone was ok, but females weren't getting extra attention.
I wish we could judge each other based on skill sets.
[–]Sicnus 235 points236 points237 points 11 months ago
That marriage is a religious institution.
[–]Desinis 60 points61 points62 points 11 months ago*
That's what irks me the most about the gay marriage controversy. They need to choose whether it's a religious thing or a legal thing, but separation of church and state makes them not compliant together.
[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 11 months ago
I really don't see why there is any controversy, I very much agree with "to each their own" with the added exception "provided your own doesn't impede on someone else's right to do what they like".
A gay couple marrying impedes on nobody while legally restricting who can marry is clearly impeding on how some people live their life.
If religious people want to live their own life by their personal beliefs, that's fine, but I will not tolerate people who actively support their beliefs being legally imposed on everyone else.
[–]Beeristheanswer 16 points17 points18 points 11 months ago
But doesn't it affect your non-religious taxes and stuff though?
[–]sylinmino 17 points18 points19 points 11 months ago
Indeed it's not--it is a legal institution, though. The whole concept of "tied-together" marriage and of "living together forever" spawned from legal documents saying that these two will stick together and make babies together. That's all that marriage is. But although different religions try to impose certain regulations on it, it is not, at its base, a religious institution.
[–]xxFinalEXodus 45 points46 points47 points 11 months ago

[–]mike45010 284 points285 points286 points 11 months ago*
That only white people can be racist. I can't tell you how many times I have had to listen to black people say somethin like "that cracka crazy" or "white boy over there said blah blah blah" ... it is equally racist when a black person says it. Now, because I am white, if I make any indication whatsoever that I am aware of an individual's color that is racist, but they can talk/act racist all day long towards white people and no one says a word...
[–]Fanzellino 26 points27 points28 points 11 months ago
I'm white and I grew up in Hawaii. Any white supremacist ideas I might have had were wiped out of me really early on.

Gay is a choice/Can be caught
[–]Fanzellino 161 points162 points163 points 11 months ago
Gay is a choice is so funny to me. "Hm. you know what sounds like fun? Liking guys, and narrowing my pool of potential lovers to 0.5-4% of the population while a very large and outspoken portion of people hate me for this choice and actively try to make me hate myself. Yes. Let's do that."

[–]CobaltFang 11 points12 points13 points 11 months ago

[–]metallink11 34 points35 points36 points 11 months ago
I'm going to piggyback on your comment here. Being gay is not somehow worse than being straight and those of us that are straight are not better or more well adjusted. The only reason being gay is difficult is because society makes it difficult.

Satanism doesn't promote human or animal sacrifice. I am not a Satanist, but having read up on it for an essay, it frustrates me how people perceive it.
[–]rhamphorhynchus 24 points25 points26 points 11 months ago
The official religion of Satanism does not, as you said. There are some, however, who call themselves Satanists because they believe in the whole christian schema but worship the evil side, and they might occasionally sacrifice some poor creature or person.
[–]JohnoTheFoolish 26 points27 points28 points 11 months ago
There are plenty of people who call themselves Christian who don't follow the ten commandments or the teachings of Jesus.
The same can be said of Muslims or pretty much any religion.

[–]harmonyharmony 113 points114 points115 points 11 months ago

That just because a dog is big, black, or Pitbull-ish doesn't mean it's going to maul you or is a threat to you, your children or your neighborhood.
There is an elderly lady who has a Rottie that goes to the same dog park as me. The surprisingly frequent amount of verbal abuse she gets from random strangers for having such a "dangerous beast" (he is one of the most gentle and well behaved dogs I have ever met) makes my blood boil.
[–][deleted] 47 points48 points49 points 11 months ago
I'm wary of other people's dogs and warier still if they're large dogs. I have no way of telling, at a glance, how that dog has been raised. I'm just being cautious, that's all.
verbally abusing someone you don't know for having a stereo-typically "bad dog" is fucking retarded, though.
[–]OneUglyDogAndMe 30 points31 points32 points 11 months ago
Speaking as an owner of a big, ugy, black, pitbull-type dog - thank you.
When I first met my pup, he was about to be put down by the shelter - because no one wanted a (potentially) big, black pit-type dog, and his time was up. I'd always been one of those folks who said there was no way in hell they'd ever own a pit bull. But I felt sorry for the ugly mutt and decided to foster him until the local rescue could find a home.
Two years later, and the dude I swore was only coming for a brief stay is now firmly a member of the family. I've learned more about dogs, pit-type breeds, and critter behaviors than I ever guessed I didn't know. He turned everything I thought I understood about pit bulls on its head. Never would have guessed that the ugly dog no one wanted would turn out to be so sweet, so loving, so people-oriented, smart, and obedient.
It breaks my heart to have people glare at my sweet, dopey dog and mutter things like "vicious" or "dangerous."
[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 11 months ago
Your post suddenly made me sad :( we had a pitbull/border collie cross named Max. He was a rescue dog as well - he ran straight onto our property one day, got his (trailing) chain tangled in our fence, and we took him in to the SPCA. He didn't get claimed, so we went back and got him... About a week or so later, the original owner showed up asking for his dog back. We told him that if he wanted to do that, we'd like the money back for getting him vaccinated, registered, and de-sexed (required for adopting him). The guy looked pissed, but told us we could keep him, then.
He lasted with us for what must've been over a decade, but finally succumbed to his old age a few months back... but he, too, was a gentle, sweet dog. He was scared of sheep and thunderstorms, and our cats... Never vicious. So it makes me mad, too, when I hear about these people saying all pitbulls are evil.
[–]crowbar181 6 points7 points8 points 11 months ago
Good for you! Pit bulls are clowns and live to please. I've been around pits my entire life. Them and American Bulldogs are my favorite breeds.
[–]VividLotus 62 points63 points64 points 11 months ago
Absolutely. This misconception goes the other way too-- people assume that because a dog is tiny that it must be friendly and that it's fine to let their toddler run up and grab it.
A dog's behavior depends so much on how it is trained and how it's treated by people. There are people who purchase a pit bull and abuse it and try to train it to be aggressive, and there are people who adopt a pit bull and carefully train it and treat it lovingly. There are people with small dogs who completely fail to train them at all and neglect them because they see the dog as a fashion accessory rather than a pet who needs love and care; and then of course there are people who train their small dogs well and care for them properly. The dogs in those different categories may have very different behavior...and it's because of the people, not the dogs.
[–]meevie 78 points79 points80 points 11 months ago*
I volunteer at an animal shelter and have spent a lot of time around dogs. Of all the true "red-zone" dogs that I see, most of them are the little guys. People, environments and experiences make "bad" dogs - not breeds.
That elderly lady I mentioned in my post? I ran in to her the other day at the dog park... We're standing around chatting while our dogs played together (her 100lb Rottie with my 20lb Pug, off leash). This other woman comes by with a little Yorkie-Chiuaua looking thing (on a leash). This little guy SEES our dogs and loses his shit. He starts snarling, yipping, pulling against her, and basically trying to attack our dogs from across the park.
She picks up her dog (who is still trying to leap out of her arms and attack our dogs), comes all the way over to us and then YELLS at us for having this "dangerous" dog there without a leash/muzzle because it'll kill the helpless small dogs. Meanwhile, both the Rottie and my little tiny Pug have sat down side by side and are just watching the scene calmly.
[–]Apollyna 62 points63 points64 points 11 months ago
If I recall corectly, that sounds a lot like a symptom of "being batshit insane".
[–]themightyyool[] 7 points8 points9 points 11 months ago
ب_ب
I used to have a 90lb Black Lab/Chow mix. Friendliest dog in the world. And yeah, he could get aggressive if there were other dogs. He'd growl, he'd posture, but that's because he was the alpha out of the dogs we had, and he calmed right down once I had his attention. Hell, he'd be totally cool with the other dog once he saw I was cool with 'em, too.
People were scared to death that he would try to kill their dogs over what's normal social behavior between dogs that never led anywhere violent.
[–]assesundermonocles 10 points11 points12 points 11 months ago
And that, chances are, it's the small ones that are insane. They get pampered to high hell and are still high-strung yapping little things. Not to say that big dogs aren't high-strung sometimes. But most are generally friendly and lovely. And loves cuddles!

[–]OpticalData 52 points53 points54 points 11 months ago
I despise how people don't get this, but even more so how Governments don't. Art is essential to a happy society because it's sonething people can do/watch/listen to to unwind. It should be encouraged and suppirted, not looked down upon because it's not crunching numbers and forwarding documents.
[–]JeremyJustin 42 points43 points44 points 11 months ago
Art is essential to society, period.
But society won't ever get over this one. Artists are seen and portrayed as either acid-tripped self-pitying hobos with no real direction in life, talentless college baristas who make crappy watercolors of self-expression or arrogant moustache-twirlers in berets.
[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 11 months ago
As far as I understand it, the typical contention (on reddit, at least) is that an art degree is not a very lucrative one, not that the arts in themselves are useless.

That human beings aren't animals....the whole false dichotomy of humans being of a superior or somehow different nature is asinine. It's absolutely insane, and without religion or constant, hypnotizing regurgitation of the ruling elite that we're somehow immune to the effects of our own pollution, of our own social constructs, and that we can somehow escape the inevitable necrosis that every organism undergoes (at least so far), we'd probably have ended many contemporary social ills. Just because they don't speak perfect English and they live in the USA doesn't mean you're better than them. Something (at the age of 19) I realized. I go to a university that has a huge international program. It was not until last month that I actually had a conversation with someone I thought was of "lesser intelligence" just because they didn't know perfect English (this specific person is from China). It was mind-blowing. I had never had a thing against anyone of different skin color than I. Never had I called someone who spoke English well a derogatory name. I realized I only used racial slurs when it came down to knowing English well enough or not. All I can say is university/college has changed me in many ways: education, friends, socially, but this has to be one of the greatest things.
[–]Nineteenletterslong 11 points12 points13 points 11 months ago

That just like you can love more than one child or more than one parent, you can also love more than one person romantically. Barring that realization, if people could simply realize that monogamy doesn't mean that your desires for other people simply switch off, that fidelity is actually a choice and not something that happens if you love someone "enough".

That if men sleep around, they are players, but if women sleep around, they are sluts. Total double-standard. Also, if a woman sleeps with another guy, then she's "dirty." Basically ignorant people trying to shame healthy attractive women who have completely normal desires.
I also hate it when people insist that it's impossible to love more than one partner. Please, monogamy is not natural for everyone, and polyamory is not "wrong" or "immoral" for any logical reason.

I'm not going to say it's wrong but what is wrong is when someone enters a relationship and doesn't make this clear to other person. The stigma behind getting help for mental disorders.
