I agree, any royalty will have an ongoing response.

Madonna will probably get a big send off.

I'm surprised no one has said Paul McCartney yet

I was actually thinking about Paul McCartney, but I feel with Lennon and Harrison gone already it would lesson the impact.

In comparison to Michael Jackson's response, I mean. It would oviously still huge.

I was thinking Oprah might have a pretty significant response.

This is the first thing I thought of. I would think the younger a celebrity dies the more people will react out of what could have been. Additionally, it would probably depend on their current popularity and the cause of death.

I think there would be a celebration. Not a world wide grieve.

It's funny because we hate that he makes music for a different demographic. Stupid talented people that don't make art exclusively for me.

As much as I hate to admit it, his new song is extremely catchy.

Have you heard his new album?

That shit is my demographic now. Hell yeah!

There's no problem with Bieber himself, just his fans.

[–]coleyy07 3 points4 points ago

No, the kid is an asshole. He's already been warned for hitting one of his fans and being abusive. He was cute when he came out, fame got to his head and now he's a little termite.

Sounds more like a population stagnation. The uteri of millions of women will just shrivel up and die.

my god no... massive outpouring of teenage grief.. A tsunami of teenage grief? Too soon?

Oh god. That would be bad, never kill Justin Bieber!!

Just tie him up, tape his mouth shut and lock him in a dark closet somewhere.

Wanting harm to come to/expressing personal hatred toward celebrities we don't particularly like the work of is such a strange novelty.. I don't get it.

Johnny Depp I think.

The Queen maybe. Remember Princess Di? It would be bigger than that

[–]UnholyDemigod 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Not really. She's an old lady, so it's not unexpected. Di's death was shocking, mysterious etc

[–]Ivo25 2 points3 points ago

Good point. But she is the most powerful monarch on the planet. The world would care

[–]UnholyDemigod 2 points3 points ago

Oh, absolutely they would. Look at the wedding. Can you imagine what the fucken coronation is gonna be like?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Depends how they go as well as who.

If Obama was assassinated (hi FBI dudes, I'm being hypothetical here), then there would be major uproar, possibly even more than JFK. I think that could top MJ.

Same with people such as the Queen, Prince William/Kate, Bieber or Lady GaGa.

If they died naturally, probably only the Queen. I mean it's a big deal.

But I'd like to think Morgan Freeman would get a good sending off too.

When Michael Jackson died they actually made an announcement on the flight my brother was on, so that got us talking about what other people would warrant a pilot interrupting a flight to tell everyone: the President was the only one we could really decide on for sure. The Queen was a maybe.

On the other end of the spectrum from the widespread mourning after Michael's death was the celebrating after Osama bin Laden was killed. I felt weird about people cheering in the streets about death, but I understand that it was almost therapeutic for a lot of people.

Wasn't Princess diana's death about that big? Pretty sure Queen Elizabeth's will be too.

Nope, no-one alive is nearly as famous/popular as Michael Jackson. But a similar response would come about if either Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga or Barack Obama died. They are pretty much the most famous on the planet right now.

yes justin has a lot of haters but despite that he's still very very popular

It depends on how old the celebrity is when they die. The younger, the more buzz.

[–]Chilly73 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I honestly don't think so. Too many of the Beatles have died for Sir John to make that much of a splash. Also, with paparazzi swarming every bloody celebrity, how much of a shock is it really going to be when one goes?

The only one that I can say that (kind of) shocked me was Whitney Houston. I figured it would be the crack that killed her, not Xanax, wine, and whatever else was in he bloodstream.

Justin biebers death would be pretty massive, especially at that age.

[–]PwntangPirate69 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It depends how they die imo. If Justin Bieber was throttled by Barack Obama on live television for instance, then I think that would raise a larger response than Michael Jackson's death.

Harrison Ford.

Millions and millions of men born in the 70s/80s who grew up idolizing Han Solo and Indiana Jones, and still live a perpetual inner childhood through these movies vicariously, will suddenly and finally realize their true age on a visceral level, and truly be forced to confront their mortality.

You'll see en entire generation or two age 20 years overnight; it'll be scary.

John Lennon you stupid shit. That had way more response than fucking jackson. It is actually taught in many history classes and well... Jackson will never have that acclaim.
