Let us adjourn to the mofarkin' ZOO! (self.Dallas)

I was thinking- I am getting a new camera this week- this weekend I want to go to the zoo! Animals are fun to photograph and it'll be good shakedown for the new equipment. Anyone wanna go? I have been in Dallas for like 3 months and shamefully not gone out a single time, so come on redditors, come hang out at the zoo a few hours!

Everyone will tell you that the Dallas Zoo sucks and that the Fort Worth Zoo is better.

I am here to defend the Dallas Zoo with their cute Koalas and wallabies. . They're both(Dallas and Fort Worth zoo) OK. Nothing spectacular at the Fort Worth Zoo besides my penguin son.

I'd so go if I wasn't already booked for the weekend. Have fun and post the pictures :)

I'm glad the top comment isn't "fuck off, the fort worth zoo is better." It is bigger but Dallas is really working hard to catch up on quality.

I found the fw zoo to be overly covered in advertisements and propaganda. I loved the new elephant enclosures and bird show at the Dallas zoo though. Oh and the giraffes.. And the lions that come right up to the window in the cafe.

Anyone who hasn't been recently really needs to give it a second chance. It's changed a lot in the last 5 years or so.

Couldn't agree more. Fort Worth Zoo is very nice, but it's not worth driving past the Dallas Zoo to get to. All the people saying "Fuck of. The Ft. Worth zoo is better" probably either haven't been to the Dallas Zoo in the last decade or, more likely, have never been at all.

The Dallas Zoo is actually larger than the FW zoo (106 acres vs 64 acres) and has about the same number of species (406 vs. 435). The new Giants of the Savanna exhibit is probably the most interesting zoological exhibit in Texas right now.

came here to say this..... but it would have been purely in jest.

I haven't been to the dallas zoo in years and I've never been to the FW zoo, but have heard good things. might make it a point to go sometime.

When I was little, I went to the D tons, but one train ride to FWZ changed my mind forever and I don't really know why.

OK- bad results from the zoo adventure. I failed to compensate for changing light conditions and about 3/4 of my photos turns out over exposed due to not shrinking my aperture.

It's not so good for this trip, but a valuable lesson learned! Next trip will be better!
