I admittedly struggled for about five minutes thinking of something clever to say about how cliche/boring this is, but failed. Attempt at snarkitude failed. Instant karma slap. The mean but funny line continues to evade me to the point of obscure, lame, overly long comments. Someday I will be that guy who can say what he really thinks and yet elicit genuine chuckles from the text people behind the electronic window, but that time is yet to come, if at all.

Continue on, bland sir. I hope you at least add salt or something. Maybe some pepper if you're feeling frisky. May you get many clicks of the up arrow.

[–]taupe_hat 6 points7 points ago

Today I was in the communal kitchen making hard-boiled eggs and chicken breast, and this guy looked at me and asked what I was making. I stared at him blankly and then said "hard-boiled eggs and chicken breast" and walked away. In my defense I did put some hot sauce on it when I got back to my room.

Anyone else addicted to Chipotle?

I have what I call a "low carb salad" that I get from there: salad, double chicken, fajita veggies, tomato salsa, green salsa, cheese guac.

Depending on my carb profile for that meal, I may or may not have black beans.

Lots of protein, not many carbs, so much food it barely fits in the container.

Awesome.

I moved to Alabama late last year, and soon discovered there were no Chipotle's in my town. I was quite sad.

A few days ago, I was driving to school when out of the corner of my eye, I saw it - a Chipotle! I was ecstatic! Not caring that it would cause me to be late, I pulled a U-turn to go to Chipotle.

I parked, and walked up to the miraculous grey building. When I got close enough to see through the windows through the glare, I saw nothing - the building was ass empty. I then noticed a sign next to it that said 'under construction'.

I was very sad indeed. But atleast, someday, I'll have a Chipotle again.

[–]iBS_PartyDoc 12 points13 points ago

You microwave eggs? Just crack them and plop them into the microwave? How long do you do that for and what do they wind up looking like afterwards?

[–]SouthlandScion 4 points5 points ago

2 eggs in a coffee cup takes 1:45-2:00 in a standard microwave. Comes out dry, but its effective.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I have seen this in Men's Health magazine before. I bit of milk and it supposedly keeps them moist.

[–]Softcorps_dn 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

That's too long. I make 2 scrambled eggs in the morning, adding a splash of milk and a handful of cheddar cheese. On high for 45 seconds, mix it a bit, and then another 45 seconds. It's just as moist as eggs made on the stove.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

That's too long. Just shove the raw egg into your mouth, then punch the sides of your cheeks to shatter the shell.

Then swallow that shit down.

Repeat ad nauseam... which would pretty much mean not repeating, I guess.

[–]dodge84 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Yep, I whisk them up like you would scrambled eggs then put them in the microwave. 3-4 mins usually does the trick, and it comes out exactly like scrambled eggs.

Spinach salad with chopped red onions, chopped red peppers, tomatoes and oil and vinegar dressing. I usually have this every single day for lunch.

Edit: I should have noted that I was on a 3 month hiatus from weight training and was running instead while on a cut. Last week I went back to Crossfit 5x a week with running integrated as well and so I will be adding eggs/avocado or other protein sources to my salads.

[–]semi-conscientious 1 point2 points ago

Sounds amazing right now. The summer heat is making eating warm or filling a huge pain.

[–]MetalSpider 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I do the same, but stick a load of protein in with it. Tuna/chicken/meatballs, basically whatever's in the fridge. Means I can fill up quite well without a load of calories.

Edit: And a handful of almonds. Delicious.

[–]sometimesimweird 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I edited the above post because I failed to mention that I was only running for the past three months, hence the reason for the lack of protein (I eat protein for breakfast and dinner). I just went back to Crossfit last week so I'm pretty sure there will be a need for protein in my salads!

Almonds are delicious! Sometimes I get super dark chocolate and indulge in a few bits with a couple of almonds.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

I edited the above post to include the fact that I just returned to Crossfit after a 3 month hiatus and the only exercises I was doing was running so I wasn't eating like I was when I was weight training. I can assure you that there will be avocado/egg/other protein sources to my salads. I just bought a food scale and learned about macros so I will be able to figure out exactly what I need, not to mention that I should note that I am a 5'2, 135 lb female so my nutritional needs are different than a male.

Here's another crazy option. Buy one McDouble, and two McChickens. Toss all the buns and use the chickens as bun. This is a proteinsplosion!

Another one I do sometimes on lifting days when carbs are my best friend: Buy one McDouble and one McChicken. Open up the McDouble and put the entire McChicken (bun and all) in between the two beef patties. Yum++.

It's a double cheeseburger, but with only one slice of cheese. They have it on the dollar menu, so a couple of them and a large drink is only $3.21 with tax.

Buy one of those little sandwich packs with a cold ice block. Cook chicken the night before and put in fridge. Toss the chicken in buffalo sauce and put in the cold sandwich pack.

A touch of iceberg for crunch, some raw spinach, cherry tomatos, sprouts, carrots, and whatever other veggies you want. Top with some crumbled bleu cheese (little bit goes a long way). 2 Tablespoons of yogurt based ranch dressing (I use bolthouse farms. only 45 calories for the two tablespoons).

Bad-ass massive buffalo chicken salad built for a man but very low on calories.

  1. 1.5 cups of a vegetable soup (think white bean with veggies, harvest vegetables), a side of steamed or roasted vegetables, and a navel orange

  2. half roast chicken

  3. low carb wrap with roast chicken, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and a bit of honey mustard

I simmer separately one package of chicken thighs in a rice cooker, or pressure cooker, or stove if that's all you have, until they are broken down enough to remove the bones.

After those are ready to go I sweat a little bit of onion, garlic, bell pepper in a pot. Add in 2 http://www.amazon.com/Embasa-Chipotle-Peppers-Adobo-Sauce/dp/B0000GATFU whole peppers + a little bit of sauce. Add in a decent amount of water and bring to a boil, add in the chicken, then add in the rest of one whole onion and two bell peppers, and one can of pre-cooked kidney beans and about 4 sliced up roma tomatoes.

You can smash in the beans up with a potato masher to make it thicker but I like to leave it liquidy.

I also like to add cottage cheese instead of mozzarella on WoDs.

Edit: I wouldn't use chicken breast for this, it wouldn't taste very good without fat.

Supposedly once a week is the recommended limit, but I have read some independent studies in one of my science journals that suggests you'd need to eat more than 3 cans every day to get enough mercury to be harmful.

Anecdotally, my dad grew up playing with balls of mercury as a toy. He bragged about it all the time and never had any issue. Idk much about it, but it can't be so bad if they aren't restricting how many you buy unlike ephedra.

My schedule is different everyday. but these are my average lunches.

Egg white + spinach + chicken scramble. 4 egg whites, bunch of chopped frozen spinach, chicken. Throw on cheese if you have calories to spare., serve with side of veggies

on the go:

Subway: 6 inch double meat oven roasted chicken sandwich on wheat, no cheese, no sauce. extra spinach, lettuce and tomato.

Pre workout: brown rice + quinoia mixture + blackbean burger ( cut up) + 3 egg whites + peas all mixed together.

Can of tuna mixed with egg whites for a patty of sorts. Grill it add more eggs to pan, serve with side of veggies. I throw peas into the mixture. cheese if you have calories to spare.

At Subway I always go for the sweet onion chicken teriyaki. The sauce is fat free and pretty low calorie, and soooo good. Double meat, white cheddar, toasted honey oat, and load up on the veggies (minus pickles and olives). Yum.

Be careful with the sauces. It is fat free but has 8 grams of sugars per serving. I try and avoid unnecessary sugars at all costs.

I'll eat the same thing everyday for about 3 months, then get sick of it. I'm about a month into shredded chicken breast with pesto, provolone, and sauteed spinach on pita bread. Earlier this year was orange chicken (thighs) with broccoli, bell peppers, and brown rice. I also usually have an apple.

I am currently bulking, If I was cutting I would have exactly the same without the rice. I generally rotate between chicken and tuna every second or third day. Edit words

Eating company sponsored lunch, it's usually

Cut:

  • 2 slices of bread with mackrell spread, cheese and ham
  • Medium green salad, added ham slices
  • Earl Grey Tea, added lemon.

Bulk:

  • 4 slices of bread, whatever meaty/cheesy/fishy on
  • Medium green salad, added ham slices, added Feta cheese
  • Tea

I base the rest of my diet around this standard meal, and just account for it in the rest of my meal, obviously on a bulk I just stuff my face.

other days: around 200g of protein (from canned tuna to leftover steak) and a shitload of veggies (usually everything I have in house and almost always onions, brocolli, bell pepper and tomatoes)

This is my lunch today:

Leftover turkey and stuffing (Easy Bake meal) - 350 kcal
4 hardboiled eggs - 280 kcal
2 scoops of NuTek Orange Protein powder - 290 kcal
1 large cucumber - 15 kcal 3 laughing cow cheese wedges (to go with cucumber) - 105 kcal
1 bag of Jack Link's Carne Seca Beef Jerky - 210 kcal 2 mini Babybel Cheese wheels - 140 kcal

That's my lunch, though I also have a box of Quaker Oats Maple and Brown Sugar oatmeal in case I feel peckish.

Total (minus possible oats): 1410 kcal

This is a pretty average lunch for me at work. The main course will change, but the snacks stay pretty much the same. I also rely heavily on Cottage Cheese, though I didn't bring any today because I had the bag of beef jerky.

I'll then probably have roughly 1000 calories for dinner (whatever my wife cooks) and then like an irresponsible person I'll probably end up having 3 Sam Adams Boston Lagers.

I am 5'11", 186lbs. I'm nearing the end of Starting Strength right now with these lift numbers (all 3x5 except deads and power cleans):

Squat: 275
OHP: 135
Bench: 205
Deadlift: 315
PC: 165

Deadlift is shitty because I had to deload from 355 last week due to back rounding issues, and I just started Power Cleans about 3 weeks ago (though it is one of my favorite lifts).

I also do 45lb weighted chin-ups almost every session and started adding weighted Glute Ham Raises yesterday (and holy fuck I am sore from them).

Today was a store bought mixed salad, tub of sliced grilled chicken breast and a small bag of unsalted cashew nuts for later.

[–]DrDragun 0 points1 point ago

If I cook ahead of time, I bring a typical meat and vegetable lunch. This could be a grilled chicken breast or lean streak (london broil/top round, pan fried) over some frozen veggies in a glass tupperware. Special treats would be salmon, nicer steak cuts, or seafood but that's not a typical lunch.

If I have to buy lunch then it's usually grocery store wing bar (they have many flavors of wings surprisingly) or salad bar loading up my salad with chicken meat and hardboiled eggs.

For social lunches we have a Five Guys and Chipoltle which I love and I will alter my lifting schedule to do some big muscle groups later in the day if I eat that type of stuff for lunch.

I eat way too many McDonald's breakfasts too. If I'm gonna do drive through, I like their breakfast food better than lunch.

there's a grocery store right down the street from work with an excellent salad bar, i eat that pretty much every work day. i usually get

  • ~2/3 cup romaine

  • ~2/3 cup spinach (for the iron)

  • a sparing bit of feta

  • ~1cup cooked chicken breast (protein ftw)

  • some craisins, a couple of cherry tomatoes, a bit of onion, some peppers

  • and some kind of low fat vinaigrette

and if that doesn't satisfy me through the end of my work day i eat a handful of pistachios later.
