Has anyone rented from The Carson Company Realtors? (self.NewOrleans)
submitted 1 year ago by bfunk007Mid City
Moving long distance and I don't necessarily trust craigslist. I wanted to see if they were legit. Thanks.

I checked out some of their apartments. They weren't in the greatest of neighborhoods. None of them had any appliances. No fridge, no stove. And the people at the rental office were not too helpful.

I went to check out a few properties from the Carson Company. They have you visit the office, leave a $10 cash deposit, and they'll give you a key to the unit you're interested in. I checked out 3 different apartments and was disgusted with each. The doors and windows didn't lock securely, there were holes in the walls and floors, and one unit had an actual shit streak across the floor from the kitchen into the bathroom.
I came back and asked if there were any units in better condition. They told me that I'm not their type of customer.
There are worse rental companies in New Orleans (like River Lake), but I wouldn't consider a property from Carson, especially coming in from out of state. You'll likely be disappointed.

Yikes. I knew their rental rates were too good to be true. I don't think I'd be their ideal candidate either, since I give a shit about things. :) Thank you for the advice!

They're an okay company, I had no real issues, but most of their places are pretty shitty. Run-down places in bad neighborhoods.

I currently am. They're not the greatest, but they do stay up outta your business.

What area are you trying to move to? My landlord has several properties in the 7th ward area he is currently trying to find tenants he doesn't usually list on Craigslist preferring to use referrals

Won't be there until mid-June, but thanks for the heads up!

I'm looking to move to that area, what are the prices like?
depends on if you want a room or a house. I know the houses in the area are going between 600-800 depending what you want. I'm moving to a different house and I know he is going to be renting rooms as 500 for everything at the one I'm at and I'd have to ask about his other properties. PM for details or with what your looking for

I haven't heard of them but I used an agent from Latter and Blum and the apartments I was shown were pretty decent.

The apartment next time mine is for rent, 460 a month of I remember right. None of the utilities are paid. Living room, kitchen, separate bedroom with a bathroom attached. It's located on Central Ave in between Jefferson and Airline. It's a cool older man who doesn't run credit checks and things like that. He only owns these 4 apartments.

OH HEY! I don't know if it's helpful now, but I should update you on our Carson Co. situation: We called them about... 8 months ago to report like three leaks in the roof (and down through the ceiling), and they finally sent some guys who came and tore a... probably 3' by 4' hole in the ceiling where the leak is that we can see daylight through. Now it rains in the house. It's been like this for about... I don't know, three weeks now? Yeah, it's pretty dope. They also ignored the other two leaks. My boyfriend paid an effing astronomical deposit on this place, too. Renter beware...

Yikes. It is helpful, I have a friend looking for a place so I will tell her to steer clear of the Carson Company. I ended up finding a place on Jeff Davis in Mid City, pretty happy with it although it will probably flood tonight or tomorrow :( Stay safe if you're still in town!
