EDIT @9:54: I probably wont be watching todays game as I will be watching The Legend of Korra on Nick. So I'll update the box score once the game is over. Stream is also now online for you guys.
EDIT @11:26: If you are having issues with the stream, I am working on it. It seems like the site I am using to stream is having some technical difficulties. Sorry about that.

If you liked Avatar: The Last Airbender (TV Show not the movie), The Legend of Korra does a damn good job in being just as great. You can actually watch the first two episodes free on iTunes if you want to check it out. They're both a series I recommend watching.
EDIT I accidentally a word.

Today's trivia question: 3 players with 15 or more career home runs at Citi Field?
My guess is Wright, Beltran, and Pagan.
[–]i1800collectsan francisco 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
Thanks! I love playing along with the trivia questions they ask on the broadcasts.
I had no idea what the answer was to last night's trivia question and I forget the answer they gave, but IIRC the question was "Who were the last two pitchers to pitch 10 or more scoreless innings against the Giants in a Giants' win?" Cliff Lee was the the one "gimme" answer; I forget the other.

[–]SFGiantsAllTheWay75 Zito 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
still sliding into home. he touched home so he didn't do anything wrong. He shouldve held onto it, that was sketchy as hell with belt and affeldt both there.
[–]sundowntg31 Nen 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
The, don't get caught rule.
[–]three_dee 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
Amateur and high school umpire here. The play was completely legal; absolutely not interference. It was no different than taking out a shortstop trying to turn a double play, in fact it was a great play by Hairston.
Terrible play by Posey, also, trying to gun out a speedy runner at first. You have got to know your runner there. Hold onto the ball and keep playing with 2 outs. No shot at Nieuwenhuis whatsoever.
That was an ugly game and both teams deserved to lose.
[–]SubitoPiano199255 Lincecum 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
Completely right as others have said, it was completely legal, it was just frustrating to watch us lose like that. Also with what happened last season with Cousins, we Giants fans are all very sensitive when it comes to runners trying to knock out our catcher. It was a smart move by Hairston though, no doubt.
[–]supervinPagutaro 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
Damn, check out the arm on Doug Eddings.
[–]emeffkay28 Posey 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
I noticed that too. And the awesome strike motion.
[–]emeffkay28 Posey 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
Watching that belt to sanchez strike in the bottom ninth last night upped my heart rate. Too soon from Posey's injury.
Whoever is in charge of the CSN update must be sleepy. They are getting names of who's up in the batting order all wrong, along with erroneous ball/strike counts.
Lots of line drives right at people today.
I'll take hard line drive outs over strikeouts, fly outs, or dribblers any day! It's only a matter of time before those line drives find holes/gaps.
Damn that's a beautiful curveball.

[–]fleshgrind75 Zito 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
3 Mets converged on the pop fly, two backed off, the CF over ran the ball and it fell right behind him.

[–]califoregon22 Clark 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
Amen. I will be disappointed if we don't see it. That kind of crap will not stand. Bad against anyone, but with Posey? Man, Hairston is a total jackass.
[–]three_dee -3 points-2 points-1 points 1 year ago
That was a great play by Hairston, not dirty in any way. He basically won the game for the Mets.
[–]alwaysreadthename9 Belt 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago
I'll take Belt's growing pains and solid defense over Huff's decline and defensive ineptitude any day.
[–]califoregon22 Clark 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago
Anyone else vote for some chin-music for Hairston next opportunity? That was a cheap shot, and a cheap win on the Mets part.
[–]theguerrillafund 4 points5 points6 points 1 year ago
Ya so that play at home was totally legal. I know you guys are sensitive to that because of what happened last year, and I know I will get downvoted to oblivion as a Mets fan, but please understand the rule before you blow up and go FUCK THE METS LETS HEADSHOT HAIRSTON THEY PLAY DIRTY. It was a 100% legal play, just like a takeout slide at 2nd is a legal play. It was not dirty or intended to hurt Posey in any way.
[–]bootleric6328 Posey 4 points5 points6 points 1 year ago
I might not agree but posting your opinion here will never get you downvoted here sir :)
[–]theguerrillafund 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago
I appreciate that. Just wanted to throw it out there since your mod invited our sub to the game thread. I may participate tomorrow if I'm around during game time
I'm not sure you won't get downvoted but you shouldn't. It was a legal play, even Dwayne Kuiper said so. Still, we're pretty touchy about Posey so dot expect a rational response from the fans or the team. Not would a rational response in this situation necessarily be ... rational.
[–]theguerrillafund 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
Ya I definitely get the reaction, I'm not going to sit here and say I wouldn't be upset if it was the other way around. I just don't like the bloodlust, especially on a legal play. And saying we play dirty is a little silly IMO. Giants would have done the same exact thing in that situation. But Posey is something special and I'd hate to see him hurt. That's just bad for baseball all around.
[–]popnfresh7000beat LA! 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
With Posey being a former shortstop, I'm actually really disappointed that he just totally ignored a sliding base runner, seemingly just because the runner was already out. I even feel like dirty is a stretch. I've seen Pablo take out people covering second on the double play and commended him for it.
If Hairston totally missed the plate on the slide, then I could see it. But he did what people running to second do all the time; slid so that at least part of his body was directed at the base, and the rest at breaking up the double play. Posey should've taken a better angle away from the plate to distance himself from any interference.
Not to say I think Posey is bad by any means, I love the dude and he is a phenomenal defensive catcher. But in this case, I think he should've known a little better, and I think calling the play dirty is a stretch.
Awful, bummer of a loss.
[–]Mmm_pancakes4 Ott 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago*
I don't give a shit if it was legal. The Cousins hit on Posey was legal, too. They were both bush league as fuck.
Dirty and legal are not mutually exclusive, and that play was both.
Edit: Sorry I was pretty frustrated when I wrote this comment. I meant what I said, just with less profanity.
[–]TheVector 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago*
The reason that play is legal is because MLB wants to allow runners to go full speed into a base without worrying about hitting any fielders, and because of the way the rules are written that allows the runners to slide into players as long as the touch the base.
The way the game has evolved most players would of done the same thing so really can't blame anyone for doing it. Could he of avoided contact, as I recall it was a force out so the slide was unnecessary and there was plenty of room for sliding anyway; and for that reason some people will think it is dirty.
Legal and "not dirty" aren't the same thing.
Is hitting someone in the face with a baseball legal, well yeah sometimes the ball slips. But I don't think anyone is actually mad enough to do anything :D
[–]onlinesquidnew yorj mets1 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
And no issue with wanting to throw at hairston. But can we all agree that going head hunting would not be the right move?
[–]Mmm_pancakes4 Ott 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago
I will never, ever advocate head-hunting. You could kill someone that way. That said, I hope Hairston comes away from tomorrow's game with a nice fat bruise on his ass or hip.
No problem with that. I like that baseball and hockey have ways to police itself.
Headhunting would be absolutely ridiculous and cheap, since that was a totall clean play. Plus Hairston probably won't even be in the lineup anyway since he is a bench player.
So. Do Huff's rollers to 1st and 2nd with runners on look any different from last year's?
Well that's one way to do it Huff. Hit the ball so bad they can't turn a double play on it.
thats exactly what i was thinking.haha
FUCK YOU BOCHY!
Yeah wind yeah sun - too bad Collins is already grey that "play" would certainly turn his hair white.
[–]baseballrodent1 Lofton 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago

[–]JakeFranklinNY Mathewson 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
Turn back the clock inning - honoring the 1962 Mets.
Fuck I hope Buster is ok. That looked painful.
mets had to play dirty to win
Is it only me dept: this game is starting way too early for west coast residents and players. Last Sunday during the day game I thought that other than Buster nailing a potential base thief the squad looked flat and sluggish. Now with the Time Zone difference is this a potential problem? Also of concern - sufficient innings from our starter to not over extend the pen after last nite. Huff (well at least he is rested) and Nate (plz stay hot) start. Any news about Theriot in attendance ? Back shortly after a double espresso aka rocket fuel.

Players maybe but Me I'm at work since 6 AM PT so wide awake but have to work:-(
[–]postslikeagirlsan francisco1 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
I don't think it's as much of a problem for the players. It's noon in New York and time changes typically only take an hour per day to adjust to...and three hours isn't significant enough to have a seriously detrimental effect. Furthermore, These guys are pros, and I'm sure they're up early in the morning no matter what time the game starts to get some practice in.
For the fans, though? Yes. It's too early.
[–]your_cat_is_ugly13 Vizquel 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago
