Is luggage an option?

I would probably say just disassemble it, wrap everything individually and put it in your carry on bag.

The case you can either throw away and buy a new one in india, or just put that in your main luggage.

Remove loose components like the GPU and aftermarket heatsink and box them separately. Fill the inside with bubble wrap (the kind with huge bubbles) and close the case. Put styrofoam padding on either side of the case and then put it into the original box so that there's no movement. For extra protection, put that box inside a second box and fill all gaps with bubble wrap.

That's how my pre-built HAF 912 computer was shipped to me across Canada and it's how I later moved it when I changed apartments. No issues.

Should work. Thank you so much.

Out of the box suggestion: Depending on the cost of shipping, it may be cheaper to part out the big heavy stuff (mobo, case, etc.) and buy new once you arrive. Just a thought.

Can't buy one in India. Way too costly because of taxes.

Whatever you do, make sure you have backup of your most valuable data at least!!!

Just bring your hard drive with you.

I like what holymadness said. I would also suggest removing any HDDs and transporting them on your persons. It seems to me that a mechanical hard drive would be the most affected if the box is dropped at any point in transit.

Good point. I have a SSD screwed into a mount so I wasn't worried about data loss, but I second the idea of removing any storage with moving parts.

It may become cheaper to buy a new case than shipping internationally. If you'll stay just a couple of months, I'd just use it without case, set up in the desk, used my PC like this for months, when I used to have fun overclocking... :D

Usually I keep motherboard's box, so I just put the my board, with CPU and memory in their places inside that anti static plastic. and then put VGA inside the box, (there are some space if you remove all those unneeded cables and manual). Once those things fits OK in mobo's box, you probably can rest assure and throw the box in your suitcase.

What will be missing is PSU and drives, I'd suggest you to carry HDD in hand luggage and other stuff just throw in your suitcase.

I've brought my pc from Japan to Brazil, and later few upgrade stuff from US to Brazil. Always done in this way, everything working fine! :)

EDIT: Ah, CPU cooler! You might need to remove it, clean it up and put it somewhere. some are fragile, so you may need an extra care, I just thrown in my suitcase with my socks and everything went OK :P. You probably will need to get some thermal paste to assembly it back.

Are you crazy? This is a great opportunity to pull your hard drive sell your computer and build a new one!

My computer was built just 2 weeks back. I'm not selling it. :P

Didn't realize that... I'd still be tempted.

Backup and carry the hard drives with you. Out of all of the components in the computer, the hard drive is the least shock proof, assuming you are using traditional HDs that is.

Remove the video card, and your processor heatsink. If you're suing the one it came with, you can leave it on.

Wait for other people to respond, I don't really know what to do when shipping a PC.
