I don't really care for superhero comics but I thoroughly enjoyed Grant Morrison's All-Star Superman run.

This is a pretty good story, and the creative team is legendary Swan and often-brilliant Moore:

I been planning to get DC U by alan moore for a while.

I am trying to find a TPB of his Captain Britain X-men story, my local library had it years ago and now it's gone. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

for the over priced TPB and Omnibus

My favorite Superman story is in the same DCU stories of Alan Moore tpb (For the Man Who Has Everything). Plus, the Killing Joke.

Byrne's Man of Steel post crisis reboot should really be on that list.

Try out these, Superman Birthright, Superman For Tomorrow, Superman and the Legion of Superheroes, Superman: Braniac. Definitely All Star Superman, Superman end of the century...I feel like i'm forgetting some important stuff...There is some great stuff there to get you going though.

The current "New 52" run on Action Comics is excellent.

It's not excellent. I like the whole 'old school poses' in Morales' art, but I was really underwhelmed by almost everything in it.

To each his or her own. I really enjoy the writing--I think it's a clever take on the concept of a young Superman. I'll admit to being a bit underwhelmed by the most recent issue.

I'm not saying its bad, per se. It's just, meh. I suppose it's because it was the book I was most interested in out of the New 52 and it left me disappointed. Good jumping on point, I suppose.

Understood. And it may well be a matter of expectations--I had no particular expectations for Action Comics, but I have found myself really enjoying the fresh approach.

I'm a long-time (since the original run in the 1970s) fan of Jonah Hex, and the New 52 reboot has left me disappointed with that. Not that it's necessarily bad, but it certainly hasn't matched my hopes and expectations.

Ah, you see, I had no expectations for All Star Western and am (probably consequentially) really enjoying it. Mainly for all the Batman refrences, if I'm honest.

Frankly, I felt like I was reading spiderman, drawn by someone whose art I've come to loathe.

Secret Origin as done by the team of Geoff Johns and Gary Frank is amazing. That's a fantastic starting point, even if it's technically outside of continuity. Or was it? Hell, I don't know. That DC Universe doesn't exist anymore and now Superman either wears armor or hiking boots. FML.

Not really it's for a continuity that is totally dead and only briefly existed. It won't help him get into superman too well.

Well he's clearly reading stuff outside current continuity, since Red Son made the list. Secret Origin is, to me, the best retelling of Superman's origin and early history that I've read. If he's looking for GOOD Superman stuff, I'd recommend leaving the New 52 stuff alone entirely.
