I think she has two modes.

Mode 1: Soothing Daenerys. When she interacts with people she likes, Jorah, her handmaidens. She has soft doe eyes, talks quietly and occasionally runs her hand slowly down the side of their face.

Mode 2: Angry Daenerys. This is pretty self-explanatory. I AM THE BLOOD OF THE DRAGON, DAENERYS STORMBORN AND I WILL TAKE WHAT IS MINE etc

TBH I'm starting to cringe at all the Jorah/Daenerys scenes.

The time in Qarth has essentially revolved around getting money, ships and an army. I think the threats and the way in which she asks is relevant to her character. She was not raised as a noble, has no concept of how to "play the game" for lack of a better phrase. She is rather green to diplomacy as she was basically living under the wing of Viserys, then married to Khal Drogo, and only now has she taken any control.

It's a bit of immaturity, but its consistent with the character when you consider her predicament.

[In the show it has been slightly more tedious than the books albeit]

I guess my issue revolves around the character development, or lack thereof. In CoK if really felt like she was learning how to lead her Kahlasar, who/how to trust, and gaining knowledge and ability to make her own choices. With her Kahlasar essentially dead, and her being a bitch to everyone, it all feels really static.

I think people who say it was less tedious in the show are misremembering the books.

Her character chapters were tedious as FUCK for long periods of time in this phase of her journey. She was almost as bad as the Brienne chapters.

I'm glad someone else finds the Brienne chapters boring as fuck. I loved all the physical descriptions in Daenerys' parts, but daaaaamn nothing happened, ever. ASOS And as a book reader, I do get the feeling that she's slowly going mad like her father, though GRRM probably didn't intend to do that. aDwD

Agreed. There is not nearly enough Jorah. In his swarthy yellow pirate shirt and peacock scabbard. Rawr.

It seems like she is alot more like Viserys now, she is a beggar queen.

Not really, she has dragons, which is more then any Targaryen can say since Aegon the Conqueror and his sisters, and remember, she is only 13 or 14 when the series began, so in reality, she is still just a teen who has yet to grow into a woman, and lets face it, has there ever been a teen in the history of the world who was not a bit of cunt, or atleast hasn't maxed out their potential and grown into the person they are mean't to be.

I feel like she became Viserys this season. She wants everything handed to her and if something goes wrong she wines about it and blames someone else. Pretty disappointing after how awesome she was in the first season. So I agree.

Book 3 is where Dany really shines, but her story picks up in Season 2 towards the end.

Poor scripting.

Her scenes feel forced.

It's showing how even though she thinks she is all powerful she is still young and naive.

I hate Dany so much. Every book just sees her character getting worse and worse...

Probably setting her up so that she gets killed for being mad sometime in Season 6 or 7. (At least that is what I hope happens.)

What I can't get my head around is the fact that the book Daenerys was bald at the beginning of ACOK and they decided not to do that in the show.
