my guess (based on having no medical training) is that long-term use of klonopin leads to dependence and therefore withdrawal when suddenly stopping use. i imagine that's why your previous doctor told you not to stop taking it -- although i find it hard to believe that he/she said to "never" stop just because you had been taking it for awhile. you could of course ween yourself off it to avoid the withdrawal symptoms.

in any case, it seems you're not in a position to ween yourself off, so as the others have recommended, you should find a new doctor, who could at least prescribe or give you some on a compassionate basis until things get sorted out. also, why not call your old doctor and explain the situation? he/she should be able to help you handle this short-term problem, too.

Thanks, I can not get ahold of the old doctor because she is in a state run facility or a affiliated place that sees mass amounts of people, I can't even get my medical records without waiting 60 days. It is like a cattle call there... I just got off the phone with a new doctor, she sounded receptive to my needs so I will see her monday..

I have been told by my previous dr to never ever stop taking this med because of how long I have been on it.

Based on you taking Klonopin, you'll be fine assuming that you have moderate anxiety. Just go to a new Psychiatrist.

uhhh, klonopin, or clonazepam is physically addictive! You can't just stop taking it and go on with your life. I just saw a psychiatrist yesterday and we had a discussion on withdrawal symptoms from benzodiazipines (klonopin, xanax, valium, etc). OP would need a prescription for anti-seizure medicine to go cold turkey. Yes, it's that bad.
