"In order to fund our efforts to oust Speaker Pelosi, the Republican National Committee is launching a Money Bomb to raise the resources we need to gain 40 House seats."

God Damn, do they have ANY solutions to problems that do not in some way involve bombs?

chillypacman 1 point2 points 5 months ago[-]

money bombs are not their solution, it's their profit seeking schemes. Ron paul proved money bombs mean jackshit whne it comes to actual votes.

I can't believe I'm going to do this, but-

WHOOOOSH!

Can someone explain the GOP talking point... "the American people have spoken"? I thought we spoke pretty clearly when we elected Obama, who campaigned with HCR as a major part of his platform, and he was elected in a landslide. Dunno about you all, but my vote was pretty fucking clear on that one.

aspartame_junky 6 points7 points 5 months ago[-]

it's pure rhetoric without substance. It's a way to claim legitimacy without proof. Typical talking point.

Gargilius 6 points7 points 5 months ago[-]

"the American people have spoken"? I thought we spoke pretty clearly when we elected Obama,

...I think that what they mean by 'American people' is really 'American people who matter', not you and me, and by 'American people who matter', they really mean large corporations (which are truly people now that the supreme court made it so).

One share one vote!

In polls, when asked about whether they support this bill, a slight majority are against it. However, when the poll is reconfigured to ask whether people support the specific various measures in it, a significant majority as actually for them...which goes to show the level of misinformation floating around about the whole issue.

Karthan 1 point2 points 5 months ago[-]

he was elected in a landslide.

Well... it was a little bit more than a 'landslide'.

tehbored 6 points7 points 5 months ago[-]

Technically it was a little bit less.

Karthan 0 points1 point 5 months ago[-]

Well, he almost had double the electoral college and 7% more of the popular vote that McCain-Palin...

No, no, clearly a decent American wouldn't vote for the communist socialist bla^H^H^H 'president'! 'American People' means REAL AMERICANS (under-educated white people from the south).

Steele is so Wall Street minded: We fail, therefore, please give us more money.

YES!! You are an intellectual giant, even if your brother Danny is a midget.

She [...] buy off members of Congress

oh dear, that sounds bad.

to fund our efforts to oust Speaker Pelosi, the Republican National Committee is launching a Money Bomb to raise the resources we need to gain 40 House seats

am I to understand that raising money to "gain seats" is something different from "buying off" members of congress?

dfaraci 5 points6 points 5 months ago[-]

That shit is written like a bad Stan Lee comic book

backpackwayne 3 points4 points 5 months ago[-]

Unfortunately, people buy them too.

thoughtful -1 points0 points 5 months ago[-]

I don't know which is more redundant, bad Stan Lee or bad comic book

dfaraci 0 points1 point 5 months ago[-]

I take it you've never read Maus, Blankets, Box Office Poison or any of the hundreds of amazingly well written comics out there

thoughtful 0 points1 point 5 months ago[-]

amazing because they're good in spite of being comic books

onique 2 points3 points 5 months ago[-]

Michael Steele couldn't have written that, everything is spelled correctly

BinaryShadow 2 points3 points 5 months ago[-]

Money Bomb? Who was the first one to use this tactic? Ron Paul's supporters?

phogasmic 1 point2 points 5 months ago[-]

I got that email. I think its hilarious.

antipoet 0 points1 point 5 months ago[-]

What mailing list do you have to be on to get these? I'd like to know what they're doing over there too.

phogasmic 1 point2 points 5 months ago[-]

just go to GOP.com and sign up. They will add you to the list.

Wow, they're proud of their 'red' color distinction.

unconstitutional backdoor process that involved passing the bill without a vote on it

I'm curious. When was the Constitution amended to make this unconstitutional? I'm assuming sometime after the last Republican use of this procedure.

UserNumber42 3 points4 points 5 months ago[-]

She even considered an unconstitutional backdoor process that involved passing the bill without a vote on it before she realized that she could simply cajole, bully, and even buy off members of Congress in order to get enough “yeas” to ram President Obama’s socialist scheme down our throats.

I bet not a single Tea Partier will notice that this contradicts itself. They won't vote on it but they have enough "yeas". That doesn't even make sense. In fact, I hope it becomes a talking point. Oh crazy people, what will you do next!

sumzup 1 point2 points 5 months ago[-]

You're missing the "before she realized" part.

Let's count the right wing buzz words and phrases: Patriot, Democrat(as opposed to Democratic), government takeover, backdoor process, socialist, special interest, will of the people, Money Bomb, tyrannical reign, most aggressively left-wing etc...

Money Bomb, aye? Interesting to see a party that has contributed nothing and failed to stop HCR is begging like the homeless people they shit on day in and day out. Fucking tools!

sheep1e 0 points1 point 5 months ago[-]

What mailing lists was this email sent to, i.e. who received it?

BatmansHairstylist 0 points1 point 5 months ago[-]

Between Palin, Steele, Michele Bachmann, that party has enough crazy to put serious strain on any mental-health plan the government could enact.

Thank God there's a place for them.

StochasticOoze 0 points1 point 5 months ago[-]

Yes, an unconstitutional backdoor process that both parties have regularly engaged in for decades now.

dacxint 0 points1 point 5 months ago[-]

This is like the peanuts all over again, Lucy (GOP) luring Charlie Brown (conservatives) with the football (promises for the good of the people) but taking the ball away at the last minute when she has what she wants - Charlie falling on his back (the supporters losing whatever they were promised). Then repeat, forever.

TomorrowPlusX 0 points1 point 5 months ago[-]

Why are they angry? This bill seems only to mandate more money for insurance companies.

julesxavier -1 points0 points 5 months ago[-]

dmdmdmdm -1 points0 points 5 months ago[-]

What's the original source for this? My google-fu is failing me, and I want to make sure it's real before passing it on.

rougepanther -1 points0 points 5 months ago[-]

Why doesn't someone create a site for these teabaggers to go and donate to the GOP, make it look legit, but have the money going to the other side of the isle? Just seems like a good thing to me?
