It's not often enough that sentences directed at our friends are ended with their name. Thank you, Dale.

I hate my name. Checkmate, Dale Carnegie.

Same here. I've never cared for my name. It's not quite nails-on-a-chalkboard unpleasant, but I don't care for it.

Me as well. Only it is nails on a chalk board.

Ugh, that's so saccharine. Maybe they mean well, but sometimes I get a Dale Carnegie vibe from people and it weirds me out. I feel like it's not genuine and it objectifies people.

I agree with you. I have an acquaintance that I get that kind of vibe from. You can tell she doesn't really care and is just putting up a facade of interest. I'm reminded of another quote from Carnegie's book:

So if you want people to like you, rule number 1 is:

Become genuinely interested in other people.

I would extend that and say that being genuinely interested in people is more important than getting them to like you in the first place.

Depends on who's saying it. Dale's methods are vein and outdated.

What's outdated about his methods?

Respecting people is old fashioned!
