Can we not start titles with "Mick Jagger KILLED" please? I freaked out for a second there.

Glad I'm not the only one who did. I actually saw everything except "it" at first.

I think it was Andy samberg and Jason sudekis' last episode as well. 3 of the main reasons to watch SNL.

What is Jason Sudekis's shtick? I've never found him funny, but I've only seen his movies where he usually plays the straight man.

Edit: My second sentence makes no sense, of course the straight man isn't funny. What I meant is that his delivery is generally dead-pan.

Yeah, his movies aren't so great, but I can't say he played the "straight guy" in Hall Pass. Anyway, he's done some of my favorite skits on SNL:

Hip Hop Kids: Bear Cave

DJ Supersoak

You could very well be right about Hall Pass, I didn't enjoy that movie very much so my memory of it isn't great.

I'll definitely check those sketches out though.

Sudekis doesn't do anything amazing but he does several things good. Teran Killin (sp?) will fill in his role well.

Weirdly, there are NO torrents of this episode anywhere. HUGE BUMMER MAAAN

You can watch it online streaming on NBC though!

I'm pretty sure you can watch it on hulu without having a Hulu plus account.

Not if you live outside the usa.

Why, are you a cop? YOU HAVE TO TELL ME IF YOU'RE A COP!

[–]urabusxrw[S] 2 points3 points ago

First of all, yes, I am a cop. Second of all just trying to add to my list because I'm down to one torrent site (demonoid) and that could go down any time.

SNLs are hit and miss. Somtimes you can find them as soon as the east coast broadcast is done and sometimes it can be as late as Monday for them to show up. There's one up on kat.ph, it's a .flv file though.

Doesn't Hulu have the episodes?

They do. Here's the link to this episode. http://www.hulu.com/watch/363355/saturday-night-live-mick-jagger

Yes, i was pointing it out that they probably would have it, so torrenting it wouldn't be required if they lived in the US =)

I just read an article that said Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis are also leaving. Wow that sucks if true.

Pretty sure they are. That's why they did Lazy Sunday 2. It was the last digital short.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points ago

That really sucks. I feel like Bill Hader and Fred Armisen are likely to be leaving soon since they've been on there forever. Most of the new cast is unproven, and it my estimation, not very funny. Should be interesting to see how Lorne rebuilds.

Since Community isn't going to be on for much longer they should hire Donald Glover, dude is a hilarious sketch comedy writer and performer and Lorne is a fool for not giving him a shot.

They don't typically bring in people who are already established. Mostly they get writers and performers out of UCB, Groundlings and Second City.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It's not typical, but they've certainly done it before, Chris Elliot being the most prominent I can think of and Kenan being the most recent.

[–]swested 0 points1 point ago

Sure, if you could call Kenan Thompson established.

I'm sure Donald said something about being offered SNL whilst on 30 Rock's writing team and turning it down. Like in the AV Club maybe?

That article doesn't say that Samberg and Sudeikis are leaving. It speculates that they might be, but I haven't seen anything definitive that they're leaving yet. They might well be, but I don't think they've said.

Bill Heder is definitely coming back, though, so there's that.

Jagger was great. I wasn't expecting much after seeing the monologue, but he really worked some of those sketches. And it's always great to see him up on stage singing.

I think Kristen Wiig is great, but it was definitely her time to go. I think sometimes SNL relied on her a little too much. It seemed like sometimes, instead of writing great sketches, they would just put her out there and tell her to act weird. Hopefully SNL gets a little sharper after her leaving.

That certainly is her talent, acting weird.
I enjoyed every minute of her act.

The dirge-like version of Satisfaction is classic. It was good to see Mick make fun of himself. His set with the Foo Fighters rocked it! Would love to see a whole concert of at.

I thought it was an outstanding episode as well. Who was playing the tambourine in the final sketch?

Figured it out...Régine Chassagne

When I heard Mick was going to be the host, I thought it wouldn't be a good show. Most non actors aren't very funny (Michael Phelps was awful, Eli Manning did ok). But I thought he was fantastic. A very solid show. Plus the jeff beck song was amazing

Mick isn't an actor (for the most part) but he has been a performer for 50 years now. He knows how to do what is called for on a one off SNL performance.

Except Ms Fay ran the rewrite desk then went to head writer at SNL. They have very different skills and aren't really on the same level IMO.

Nah its time for her to go. The contracts for SNL cast members are way too long. Ms Wiig would be too old aka 43 to move on to something new.

If she heads out on her own now she can create the vehicle for herself like Ms Fay did with 30Rock.

I truly hope so. Aside from rocking films I'd love to see her land her own series.

Which musical performance did you dislike exactly? I mean, I can guess, but I'm curious as to what the general consensus is.

[–]urabusxrw[S] -3 points-2 points ago

I didn't get the point of the last one. It's not bad music by any means, it just seemed like he had no stance or point. It was a really safe performance and it annoyed me.
