Nate Silver: Most current predictions have Grayson losing by 1.5 points, Bachmann winning by 16 points.

It was a "shocking" win because nobody polled the race in 5-6 weeks.

Do you think 2 months away is far away? This isn't one random, unscientific internet poll. Silver's work is the real deal. If you're not familiar with fivethirtyeight, I'd highly recommend you investigate.

Very few people have heard of the game Gradius. This is hands down the most difficult game I've every played. Ever. I have no shame in admitting that I couldn't beat the first level. Harder, IMHO, than Ghosts and goblins. Kid Icarus was also impossibly hard.

Have you ever heard a stump speech WHERE THE CANDIDATE SPEAKS IN ALL CAPS?!?!?! [vid]

bluengreen7 [S] 0 points1 point 11 hours ago[-]

Fuck, this man is emotionally/mentally unstable.

The GOP is rounding up and tricking homeless people to vote for Green party candidates to siphon away votes from Democrats.

I disagree, the headline is correct. I acknowledge that the GOP candidate is maliciously hiring homeless people to distract and fracture the democratic process in a hotly contested state. But, there are several consequences you can safely infer from the article without taking a leap in logic. First of all, angry voters that will neither vote for Republicans and Democrats will vote for another candidate (possibly random homeless guy.) Secondly, some voters who traditionally back Green party candidates will immediatly back this candidate. Lastly, and the cause of this headline: what sociopolitical network or resources does a homeless person have? Many other homeless persons who bank on each other for resources. Friends of the candidate will, in turn, vote for the Green party. Sadly enough, the homeless man would probably be a much stronger candidate than either party.

Forgive Student Loans and Stimulate the Economy

Exactly. I'm appalled by the number of "what about ME?" posts. Isn't it the "ME FIRST!!" mentality that got us into this financial debacle in the first place? We need to shift our attention to "we" and discover what is best for our country.

Forgive Student Loans and Stimulate the Economy

For what it's worth, I posted something similar to this a while back, located here.

In hindsight, I would've framed the discussion differently. Maybe proposed a cut in military spending $50-60 billion over 10 years to pay for the stimulus.

In an effort to stimulate the economy, Obama pushes for $50 billion in infrastructure spending.

I think I would orgasm if the Obama administration and the state of Illinois really move forward on their plans to build a high-speed rail connection from Chicago to St. Louis (with intermediary stops at Kankakee, Bloomington, Champaign, etc.).

But my guess is that they'll spend funds on a highway from Chicago to KC.

Time for another round of anti-jokes, what is your best?

bluengreen7 [S] 5 points6 points 4 days ago[-]

I don't believe that was an anti-joke...

Is it just me, or am I the only one who doesn't think Obama is doing a bad job?

bluengreen7 1 point2 points 4 days ago[-]

I don't disagree with you that Obama compromised on virtually everything. Maybe even compromised more than he should have. But the country has been thrown so far to the radical right that even rational, centrist ideas are all of a sudden socialist conspiracies that will incite a Bolshevik revolution. It's the best he could've done given this fucked up context. Yes, that means it still really sucks and tastes like a shit taco.
