"Holy fuck!"

"How did you guess?"

Unrequited love sucks

Sounds dead boring to me.

What about Terminator 2? That used CGI back in 1991, and while the effects are a bit dated they are still far, far better than most modern films, in my opinion.

Why? Because they were used sparingly, where the director had no other choice. Remember the liquid metal guy? That was mostly done without resorting to CGI and the film is a damn sight better as a result.

Look at Inception - although CGI was used throughout the film, it was also used sparingly - most of the effects were achieved in-camera.

The best CGI is invisible CGI... wire removal, background replacement, colour correction, etc etc.

One problem I have with almost all CGI is the fact that the animators still use cartoon physics instead of letting them be constrained by real physics. Remember the monster that chased Kirk in the new (great) Star Trek movie? It looked terrible - it behaved more like a Warner Brothers creature than a real one.

A general rule is if something is big and heavy then it should be slower to accelerate and decelerate.

Transformers 1 and 2 were unwatchable for this very reason.

Ever seen a photo of a person in several different poses? How is that done? (more in detail in post)

Here's my attempts at this type of photo:

It's actually good fun - I'd definitely recommend a quick change of clothing between shots. Try not to take too long if you're in natural light because if the sun goes behind a cloud it'll make it harder to blend the images.

I shot it using manual focus and manual exposure, and activated the camera using a 2-second remote.

I just realized the irony...

And tell them not to be like the hypocrites who pray in the synagogues to be seen by men.

Remind them to give all their money away too.

What do you look like RIGHT NOW! No old photos! Only right now, as you are.

Except there aren't any! Would an etch-a-sketch count as a vector-based display?

Um really, CNN?

joyork 1 point2 points 3 days ago[-]

I came here to say this.

Reddit is almost all links to images nowadays. It wasn't always like this. I miss the old reddit :(

I don't have a good camera, but I take pictures with my iPhone. Am I doing a fancy job?

The best one (for me) is the kiss photo. Excellent.

My ex girlfriends star sign was cancer, it is quite ironic how she died.....

joyork 12 points13 points 5 days ago[-]

Pah! I'm a Virgo and our star sign proves we're far too logical and rational to believe in Astrology.

They'd better hurry up because time is fleeting...

"The easter bunny loves you, but if you doubt that and/or experience human emotions, upon death you'll be forced to endure bad 60s claymation films for all eternity. While you're on fire." [pic]

The person getting riled was the person who took the screenshot. Look at the bottom - the time stamp says 2 seconds ago.

Hitchens and Fry vs Catholic Church. Holy fuck I have not seen this before why have I not seen this before.

And they got well and truly Hitch-slapped as a result.

How Google search works

Finding her G-spot was easy, you just asked her where it was and she brought up a map.

My wife likes to creep me out. (picture set)

You uploaded 10 megapixel images and just used the browser to resize them. The page ran like shit on my crappy work PC, was slow to scroll.

Next time you need to reduce the images to the correct size and save them. That will dramatically reduce the size.

Reviewers get sent stuff and they send it back.

Ken Rockwell gets the specs and writes a review making it sound like he's had it in his possession when he hasn't.

Last time I looked, real reviewers didn't have a disclaimer like this on their site/magazine:

While often inspired by actual products and events, just like any other good news organization, I like to make things up and stretch the truth if they make an article more fun.

They don't go to the local camera shop, play around with the equipment then write a review as if they own it.

That's not all - he reviews equipment he doesn't even own.

Just think about that for a moment.
