ok, I think I understand the issue that you have had, but wifi use is so pervasive, that if it is going to mess with your equipment, then it would do so regardless of if it was your wifi or not. This is almost like the town of people that complained about ill effects from a cell phone tower that wasn't even on.

sounds like what happened to you, was that your wifi started searching, and your computer sputtered - this used to happen, and why I run with wifi disabled on my laptop. However, should I choose to have wifi connected before a gig, and forget to turn it off, I have my card not to search for new networks if I am not connected, so it doesn't go searching if I lose my connection.

I still don't understand what your issue is - either the wifi signals are doing damage to your audio without even being connected, or a misconfiguration of your wifi card is causing stuttering.

Since I have never experienced any issues, and haven't heard from anyone I know in professional sound/production/engineering, that wifi signals will interfere with your laptop (isn't this what the FCC testing is for), then I will just leave my setup the way it is, because it works. I have no plans to abandon wifi.
