I've seen much worse while working in a hospital. I don't want to downplay his condition, but from an aesthetical point of view, e.g. a leg of a heavy smoker (don't know the correct english term) looks far worse. I just want to say: I don't have any problem looking at his face or hands. It's not that bad to look at...

When it comes to running: It works! I started 5 months ago (after some years break). So far I lost 5-7 kilos... From 75kg down to 68kg. And I can easily run half-marathon distance now. And yes, 75kg was too much for me, I'm only 1,68m...

R/Psytrance.. I have just discovered my love for this music. What MUST I check out.

there's still a lot of innovation, but in the end you can't innovate too much. it's important that it'll work on the dancefloor, so you have to stick to some basics (although every now and then somebody comes up with something totally new that works on the dancefloor as well. then a new style is born.)

funny thing is: sometimes a "slow beat, dry, repetative bassline accompanied by an occasional sound effect" can be really nice on the dancefloor, but it's really hard to get it right. most progressive is indeed very boring...

e.g. when i heard "perfect stranger" on the dancefloor, i loved it! wouldn't have thought so, if i heard the CD before. dancefloor-sound is very different to home-sound.

but in the end i also prefer more complex music (at least on the dancefloor).

neelix is nice on ipod, but pretty boring on the dancefloor. but yes, that's the direction trance is going (at least in germany, where neelix is from as well, and me, too).

I once loved progressive, when it was really "progressive" (about 2000). now progressive seems pretty "backwards" to me...

but there's a positive trend back to "real" goa. you'll find it at "ozora" festival, and my guess is, that it will spread... :-)

...aahh a newcomer! ;-)

I'm in this field for more than 16 years, but I have to admit my musical knowledge is somewhat limited, because I mainly go to the outdoor parties during summer and try to remember the good live-acts I've seen.

When you say "Infected" I guess you're not into progressive trance, so I will keep my recommendations there to a minimum. I will try to categorize my recommendations, although I know that this will be disputable. Also, I'm more into positive, sunny music, so there will be no dark-psy acts in my list. Check out the artists from my "real psytrance" list first.

So here are my favorite artists:

Progressive (great music for the living room, still nice on the dancefloor):

  • Vaishiyas
  • Flowjob
  • Ace Ventura
  • Perfect Stranger
  • FREq

Full On:

  • Wrecked Machines (!)
  • Cosmic Tone
  • Pixel
  • Sesto Sento
  • Zen Mechanics
  • U-Recken
  • Altöm (!)
  • Perplex
  • Vibe Tribe

"real" Psytrance and classical Goa (seen them all live, all were awesome!):

  • Tristan
  • Pleiadians
  • Man with no name
  • Green Nuns of the Revolution
  • Logic Bomb
  • Transwave
  • Electric Universe

Edit: If you like this music, try to attend an Open-Air festival. Psytrance is best to be consumed while dancing in the summer on a dancefloor outside. Only there you can experience the real magic of it!

2nd Edit: I forgot... Shpongle!!!! (Outside every category)

World's largest tidal turbine (1MW) to be deployed later this summer in Scotland while the U.S. is busy fucking off. Oh, and this thing is huge and looks fucking cool.

when it comes to renewables, there is no "one technology solves it all", but lots of different small solutions, which all have to be pieced together.

How do you explain to a non-drug user the experiences you have are real, and there's more to life than just a physical perceivable reality?

malanalars 2 points3 points 12 days ago[-]

Just don't. I'm still not sure if there exists something like a collective consciousness that is responsible for the generation of all matter, or if it is indeed a hallucination generated by my brain while being on psychedelic drugs or in a meditative state. And you now what? It doesn't matter!

All that matters is experience and perception. When I experience the world like this, it is like this. If somebody else doesn't perceive the world being like it, it isn't like it. The way we perceive our world is our reality. You can not tell anyone how he has to perceive the world, it won't help to read any books about it. Everything that counts is the personal experience. If someone is ready for this, it will happen to him, if not then not... simple as that.

malanalars 0 points1 point 1 month ago[-]

there will be a tradeoff in performance, buuut: you will be able to write much cleaner and maintainable code, which pays off IMHO. if you have problems with performance you can always try to optimise afterwards (and implement proper caching), and more important: you can throw more hardware at it. hardware ich much cheaper than workhours nowadays...
